This policy explains what personal information Semantic Brain Corp. ("Semantic Brain", "we", "us") collects through semanticbrain.net, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Work we do for clients under a contract is governed by that contract.
Change your cookie choices at any time. Your choice applies to this browser and is kept for up to 13 months.
Who we are
Semantic Brain Corp. is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For any privacy question or request, contact our privacy officer at info@semanticbrain.net.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form. Your name, email address and message. The form is processed by our host, Netlify.
- Meeting bookings. When you book a call, Calendly collects your name, email address and any answers you provide. Calendly's own privacy policy applies to that data.
- Email. Anything you send to info@semanticbrain.net.
Information collected automatically
Our host records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and running. It also looks up your approximate country and region from your IP address so we can apply the right cookie defaults. We don't store that location.
With your consent, or by default where the law allows it (see below), analytics and marketing tools collect information about how you use the site. That includes the pages you visit, clicks, scrolling, device and browser details, and the campaign or ad that brought you here.
Cookies and similar technologies
We group cookies and similar technologies into three categories.
| Category | Purpose | Providers |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site working: remembering your cookie choice (stored in your browser as sb_consent), contact-form spam protection, and the booking scheduler you open on our Contact page. Always on. | Semantic Brain, Netlify, Calendly |
| Analytics | Measure traffic and understand how visitors use the site, including heatmaps and session replays. | Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity |
| Marketing | Measure the results of our advertising and show relevant Semantic Brain ads on other sites and platforms. | Google Ads, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Meta Pixel |
We load these tools through Google Tag Manager, which itself does not set cookies. We use Google Consent Mode, so Google's tags respect your choice. When analytics or marketing is off, those tags send only limited signals without cookies or identifiers.
How defaults depend on where you are
- Canada (outside Quebec) and the United States. Analytics and marketing are on when you arrive. You can turn either off at any time from the cookie banner or Cookie settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, marketing starts off.
- Quebec and everywhere else, including the EU, UK and Switzerland. Only strictly necessary cookies are used until you choose to accept analytics or marketing.
If we can't determine your location, we use the stricter defaults.
How we use information
- To reply to your messages and hold the meetings you book.
- To understand which content is useful and improve the site.
- To measure and improve our advertising.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
Sharing
We share personal information only with the service providers named in this policy, who process it on our behalf or under their own privacy terms, and when the law requires it. We don't sell personal information for money. Under some US state laws, using marketing cookies for cross-context advertising can count as "sharing" or "selling". You can opt out by turning off Marketing in Cookie settings, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals.
Several of these providers are in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed outside your province or country. It is then subject to the laws of those places.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and booking details for as long as we need them to respond and maintain our business records. Analytics and advertising data are kept according to each tool's retention settings. Your cookie choice is kept in your browser for up to 13 months, after which we ask again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under Canada's PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, the EU and UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you, and correct it;
- ask us to delete it, or to stop or limit using it;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- complain to your privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
To make a request, email info@semanticbrain.net. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. If a change affects your cookie choices, we'll ask you again.
